The Great UKAR Book Giveaway continues apace!

Following hot on the heels of the TSR2 competition, we've teamed up with SAM Publications to give you a chance to claim one of the titles from their ever-growing series of 'Aviation Data File' reference books. To date, 21 titles have been announced under this banner covering popular aircraft from all eras.

The latest release in the series (#17) is particularly poigniant now, as it profiles the BAe Harrier as used by the Royal Air Force. Written by Andy Evans and split over five chapters, the narrative guides you through the procurement and development of every variant of the Harrier, from the initial concept and technology demonstrators right up to the final GR9 versions that will soon be retired from service. Having only been published in May this year, the book has now become an all-inclusive account of the types 40+ year lifespan.

Fold-out technical drawings, cut away images, full page profile illustrations, hundreds of full colour images and detailed 'walkarounds' show every detail of the Harrier to make this a very comprehensive and authoratitive reference on one of the enduring icons of British aviation. Trainer variants are also well documented.

Another recent release from the Data File 'Extra' series is a special book dedicated the United States Air Force's Special Operations Command. Following similar lines to the Harrier volume, the book is broken down into chapters detailing each of the aircraft that make up the highly equipped and potent Special Ops units, with profiles, walkarounds and informative text lifting the shroud from secretive aircraft such as the legendary AC-130 Spectre and MC-130 Combat Talon, right up to AFSOC's latest type to enter service, the CV-22 Osprey.

As modelling references, the Aviation Data File series of books are tremendous, bringing together a wide range of information and detail into a single title, but equally they make excellent reading material for enthusiasts alike.

Retailing for around £20, the books are available at hobby shops, book stores or direct from the SAM Publications website.
